There was actually a review of Bush's "art" exhibit in the New York Times. The writer, in part, states:
"His skill may be disconcerting for people who love painting and dislike the former president, but still, everyone needs to get a grip, especially those in the art world who dismiss the paintings without even seeing them."
Yeah, guys....WE NEED TO GET A GRIP! So what if he's a goddamn war criminal who has the blood of thousands if not a million people on his hands? WE NEED TO GET A GRIP!
Son of a bitch....
Tirade over.

(115,692 posts)W's paintings are painfully amateurish. Well, he is an amateur, and that's fine. People can have hobbies, even doing things they aren't especially good at. But if he's going to exhibit his painfully amateurish paintings he should be ready for some criticism.

(9,126 posts)The editors of the NYT have to know this low level is hurting their standing. But I fear the idea of value or talent has lost out to fame in most circles. He's famous, get over it shows a lack of any thinking beyond a tweet. I hope to read your letter, or if you would like to share.

That serial killer painted in prison; Dubya could just as well right where he belongs.

Maybe MOBA will take them.
ETA: Talent didn't give him his first exhibit. His "library" did.

(19,348 posts)And of course, like everything else in the The Art of Leadership: A Presidents Personal Diplomacy, the paintings place the former president on the world stage, where everyone is acting. Mr. Bush has not painted the people closest to him, who were instrumental in bringing him to power and shaping his presidency, namely Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice and Donald Rumsfeld. Instead, he has painted a world of smiles and friendship that can rarely be taken as the whole story. The show reflects an attempt both to burnish the Bush presidency and distract us from its failures, as his brother Jeb, a former governor of Florida, may be readying his own campaign for the presidency.

They suck.
But that's besides the point.
They have particular interest only as aesthetic phenomenon created by an unindicted war criminal.
