(vote to take place this Thursday).....
The House Oversight & Government Reform Committee, led by Rep. Darrell Issa, has scheduled a vote that will determine whether IRS official Lois Lerner will be held in contempt for repeatedly refusing to answer questions surrounding the IRSs targeting of certain organizations.
Last year, Lerner appeared before the committee, gave an opening statement, and then invoked her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination three times before being excused. She returned again last month and spoke even less, once again exercising her Fifth Amendment rights.
Democrats convinced Darrell Issa cant hold Lois Lerner in contempt Lois Lerner under fire in new House Oversight Committee report Documents and testimony point to Lois Lerner as a senior IRS official responsible for conduct that deprived Americans of their rights to free speech and equal protection under our laws, committee chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif, said in a statement.
Americans expect accountability and want Congress to do all it can to gather relevant evidence about what occurred and who was responsible so that this never happens again. Ms. Lerners involvement in wrongdoing and refusal to meet her legal obligations has left the Committee with no alternative but to consider a contempt finding.

(12,977 posts)Dan Backer, the lawyer behind McCutcheon, is also at the center of the phony IRS scandal. His TheTeaParty.net, along with True the Vote (the people who bus white suburbanites into inner city precincts to intimidate minority voters), are the ones shouting loudest about how long it took them to get their tax-exempt status.
I keep posting about this and how a small number of individuals who operate in concert are behind most of the attempts at disenfranchisement. But as long as the attention is on people like Issa and not the ones working in the shadows to feed him the ammunition, the true shape of things isn't going to become clear.
