Keep Harold Ford Jr Off The TV And Use A Real Democratic Representative

<snip>

Then it came time for Harold Ford Jr to share his Blue Dog values and not only did he not mind the McCutcheon ruling, but he simply LOVED it. What a guy! Of course, it's because that means more money for him somewhere down the line. He doesn't even mind Sheldon Adelson spending billions of dollars trying to buy his hand picked candidates into the White House because he's probably looking for a piece of the action too.

HAROLD FORD JR.: He has every right to do what he chooses to do. And far be it from me to try to tell him. I think your discussion you had with McCutcheon and the president of-- Weissman there about these-- money is there. All this decision did was to try to redirect some of the flow of it.

And anyway, I think any chance you have to re-empower the political parties, which are accountable, the money is transparent, they foster kind of a coalition kind of thinking around issues, I think is a positive thing. Now, if you take Weissman at his word, and this is a disaster, and you take Breyer at his word, Justice Breyer, then perhaps this will invite a kind of confusion and chaos and collapse of the system that will force us to change altogether.

But this decision doesn't alarm me like it has alarmed some of my Democratic friends. In fact, I think it will empower candidates, empower political individual campaigns, which, in the long run, having run a campaign, along with John, I'd much rather have the transparency and be accountable that way, as opposed to having outside groups come in that I have to answer to. God, not only isn't he alarmed by the decision, but he thinks its empowering. Is he warped or what? I'm sick and tired of never seeing progressive politicians or pundits on the air representing the working class of America and Meet The Press is particularly egregious about it.

marginally moderate.

Anything that even remotely challenges the group-think of corporate masters cannot be tolerated..

The "regulars" are carefully chosen for their docile acceptance of the terms, in exchange for cash.

Just think of all the wonderful thinkers we got scant doses of, and when we did, their ideas were attacked roundly.

Progressives are somewhat afraid to really speak out, because their ideas are only allowed on-air occasionally and with usually a 2 or 3 to 1 mix on panels.

The kind of problems we have are not ones that easily fit into a 3 word slogan, and people who are thinkers and need more than 25 seconds tend to be overlooked.

Harold Ford is a fucking Republican. Might as well just say it.

Democrats do not agree with the McCutcheon ruling. This is one gauge of an actual Democrat. Express acceptance of the McCutcheon ruling, you're a fucking weasel Republican masquerading as a Democrat. Few issues outside of Social Security more clearly define a Democrat.

They will allow Rachel Maddow once in a great while but she fully understands her very strict confines.

The media is no longer the media. It is a propaganda mechanism.

They already run so many political adds because of the Citizens United ruling, it will npt matter.
People hate political adds.They are sick of intrusive telephone calls. We are electioned out before it gets started. No one pays attention to the Sunday morning shows any longer. They are one sided because the only people watching are righties.They cater to the lowest common denominator. Republicans.
So let them flood the air once again. The last election they did that and the more they flooded the air the more the dems became motivated.

14. I've been watching Harold "the opportunist" Ford for many years....
Mon Apr 7, 2014, 07:40 AM
Apr 2014

......his comments on this Supreme Court decision on Morning Joe did not surprise me. Here's a synopsis of Harold Fords career compliments of Salon.com;

Harold Ford, Jr. is the walking, breathing embodiment of virtually everything rotted and corrupt about the American political class. He entered Congress at the age of 26 only by virtue of nepotistic benefits: while in law school, he ran for the seat long held by his father of the same name (he then promptly failed the test for admission to the Tennessee bar). In Congress, he voted for de-regulation of Wall Street (which helped precipitate the 2008 financial crisis); to authorize the Iraq War (and then harshly criticized Democrats who opposed it and refused to admit its error even as late as 2007); in favor of a Constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriages (The Advocate branded him “anti-gay”); and was one of the few Democrats to support the credit-card-industry-demanded bankruptcy “reform” bill that made it harder for impoverished consumers to discharge consumer debt.

After Tennessee voters drove him from Congress by rejecting his 2006 Senate bid, Ford immediately cashed in on his servitude to Wall Street and peddled his D.C. influence by becoming Vice Chairman and Senior Policy Adviser of Merrill Lynch. During Ford’s tenure, “Merrill Lynch nearly collapsed, was bailed out by US taxpayers, and went through a troubled merger with Bank of America,” yet he nonetheless received $2 million a year in guaranteed salary plus what were almost certainly substantial annual bonuses. He left what had become Bank of America Merrill to become a Senior Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, at which time he bought a $3 million co-op in Manhattan. Upon leaving Congress, Ford also cashed in by becoming the last Chairman of the corporatist Democratic Leadership Council (“last” because, typifying his career, the DLC ceased to exist under his leadership). He cashed in further by becoming a Fox News contributor, until he left for MSNBC.

Reflecting the interests he typically serves so eagerly, Ford recently attacked Democratic criticisms of Mitt Romney’s career at Bain Capital on the ground that “private equity is a good thing in many, many instances.” So that’s Harold Ford, Jr.: opportunistic, craven, sleazy nepotistic corporatist who has made a career out of converting his unearned political influence and loyalty to the banking industry into large wads of cash.

20. The Harold Ford behavior that has stuck with me had to do with Imus....
Mon Apr 7, 2014, 11:56 AM
Apr 2014

....Now let me preface my thoughts by stating that in no way did I try to justify Imus referring to the Rutgers female basketball team as "nappie headed hoes". He was clearly in the wrong. But, here is where Ford plays into that.

Before the controversy, Harold Ford was running for the Senate against Bob Corker in Tennessee. I don't know if you recall Corker's infamous "Call me Harold" campaign ad. The campaign ad featured attractive white women telling Ford to call them. The ad was clearly an attempt by Corker to inject race in the campaign. Ford was a frequent guest on Imus's show in those days and Imus railed against Corker on Ford's behalf for weeks over his crude racist ad. Ford was also aware of the many charities Imus was actively involved in helping underprivileged minority children stricken with cancer.

But, when the Imus Rutgers controversy hit, Harold Ford wouldn't even take a phone call from Imus. He hid for cover like the opportunist punk that he is. I've never forgot that. Another Dem that seems to be willing to put personal opportunity ahead of Party goes by the name of Cory Booker. He has come on my radar over the past year as being very Ford-like. Your thoughts ?
