Didn't have to happen. Salazar needed to be replaced a very long time ago.

I still miss Bruce Babbit, Clinton's Department of Interior guy. There is also a photo of him somewhere, holding wolf babies--he has a big smile on his face while he sits with them at Yellowstone. I think he was re-introducing wolves to the area. I know that Babbit was also, at one time, the President of the League of Conservation Voters.

There should have been more input from the rest of the country when Obama was deciding on SOI. When I saw him smiling with Dink er... Dirk Kempthorne at a get together at YNP, I knew we would be in trouble if he were chosen. There was a petition favoring Raul Grihalva but nobody listened to us then. Out here in the tri-state reintroduction states, we already knew... and then there was that sleazy rider that one of my shill Senators slipped into a budget Bill that removed them from the ESA list and forbade any legal appeals against it.

There's a lot of hell to pay on this and all in DC and the capital cities are the culprits... but voters didn't do much to let them know it was not acceptable when it mattered either. I called every Congress critter on every committee that had a hand in it, and all I got were emails asking for $$.

The truth is they are pretty timid and skittish towards humans and not nearly as big in size as people imagine.

of removing the top predator in an ecological system: Everything is just the same as before, only better. 'Cause men are way better at resource and game "management" than Ma Nature.

Almost everyone I have spoken with seems fine with the idea of wiping them out entirely. Just one like-minded liberal (yes, there are more than one here!) has agreed that it's still another black mark against a state that hardly needs more.

And now, they want to spend $100k to poison the ravens. Nevermore!

"They believe there is anecdotal information suggesting that ravens could be causing sage grouse populations to decline." - http://www.eastidahonews.com/2014/04/state-to-spend-100k-to-poison-ravens/

Well, THERE's some hard-hitting wildlife biology for ya'!
