Protesters To Dropbox: Drop Condoleezza Rice Or We Drop You

WASHINGTON (CBS DC) – A group of Dropbox users are upset with the company’s decision to add former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to its board of directors, reports CNet.

CEO Drew Houston The cloud storage service announced it wanted to boost its international presence.

Just minutes after the announcement, angry Dropbox users vented their frustrations on Twitter and other social media.

It didn’t take long for a Drop Dropbox website went live, listing reasons that Condoleezza Rice should not be on the board.

It cites her role in the Bush administration as it prepared for war with Iraq and authorized interrogation techniques that the site calls torture.

1. Odd that they think Rice will boost their international presence.

With who I wonder. Is there a huge international Condy fan club I am unaware of?

I do not think this is going to work out the way they seem to hope.

I know I will certainly never use them again if they go through with this.

2. The decision alone discredits them

I have a few clients that are using dropbox. I'll recommend against continuing, and I'll never even consider them at this point. The decision to use her is a strong indicator of their beliefs in an all-seeing corporate state. I can only hope it is their entire undoing.

It is a very odd choice at a time when cloud storage is becoming more and more cut throat.

If so, she's the only member of the BFEE who dares leave the US in fear of being snatched up for war crimes charges.

She's poison and should be dropped by the dropbox before she brings them down too.

RiceHadleyGates Consulting Firm Has Ex-Bush Officials Robert Gates, Condoleezza Rice & Stephen Hadley Joining Forces
04/25/12
WASHINGTON -- Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates is going into business with two other top officials from the George W. Bush administration.

Gates will join an international consulting firm headed by former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and former White House national security adviser Stephen Hadley.

Gates left his Pentagon job last year. He was the only senior member of the Bush administration who stayed on to work for Democratic President Barack Obama. Gates has described himself as a Republican.

4. I have no idea why they want her on the board...

but I think it's silly at this point to dump them out of some sort of vague moral outrage.

Did anyone storm out when Stephen Gates and Robert Hadley joined the board?

Anyone refuse to use them when they saw the venture capital firms financing them? Or who provided their financial guy?

Of course not.

200 million users and they're blocked in China-- losing a few people who probably don't pay anyway isn't something they'll notice.`

6. The Reich Wingers will screem like stuck pigs that mean old Liberals are going after

fellow Reich Wingers when all people are doing is letting the free market decide.

Company freely hires controversial figure.

Current or potential users of the company product makes it known that if the company hires a controversial figure they will no longer use the product and use another product.

Company now has a choice to make, hire controversial figure and lose current and potential customers and lose money or stand by their choice and hope that those who support the business decision decide to flock to the business of setting the losses.

Is not this a great example of the free market the Reich Wingers are always screeching about?

I don't use dropbox however if I had the need for the service dropbox offers I would not use them now.
