Hate—and Hitler—in the Heartland: The Arrest of Frazier Glenn Miller

By John Avlon and Caitlin Dickson

The man accused of shooting three at Jewish centers in Kansas has a long résumé as a neo-Nazi and KKK grand wizard who once created a points system for murder.

The sole suspect in a shooting that left three dead at two Jewish community centers outside Kansas City on Sunday is a former Ku Klux Klan “grand dragon,” neo-Nazi, and ex-con named Frazier Glenn Miller.

The 73-year-old was caught by TV cameras yelling “Heil Hitler” from the back seat of a police car after he was apprehended in the parking lot of a local elementary school. Rabbi Herbert Mandl, chaplain for the Overland Park Police Department, said the gunman asked people whether they were Jewish before he opened fire. Two of the victims, named by grieving family members as Dr. William Lewis Corporon and his grandson Reat Griffin Underwood, 14, were not Jewish, however--they were members of the nearby United Methodist Church of the Resurrection.

The Southern Poverty Law Center said they had confimed Miller’s arrest with his wife, Marge, who said her husband had been drinking at a Missouri casino the night before and had not been heard from since. Marge Miller told the SPLC that authorities came to her door at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday and told her that her husband had been arrested in the shootings.

Miller, who also uses the alias Frazier Glenn Cross Jr., has an extensive résumé of hate. A former Green Beret who served in Vietnam, he embraced white supremacy in the 1970s, first joining the National States’ Rights Party and then the National Socialist Party of America—the Nazis.

They robbed an armored car at gunpoint near Ukiah, California - took millions of dollars, some of which went to Miller in the hopes he could help fund racial violence and separatism.

It's akin to Russian roulette. Spin the wheel. One commentator says something. Nothing. Rush Limbaugh says that women and minorities hurt freedoms. Blam!! Some nut with enough ammo to take out an entire city shoots up a movie theater. Spin the wheel again. Another commentator says whatever, nothing happens. Glenn Beck makes repeated references to the democrats and Hitler. Blam! We get a nut with an assault rifle shooting up two Jewish retirement homes in Kansas and yelling "Heil Hitler!!" as he gets arrested. I'm not saying these things have a direct correlation but shit like this happens far more often than not.

Hey moran, you see where the flaw in your "master race" idea comes from, you attacked a Jewish center, asked who were Jews and killed mostly non Jews.

Put this idiot in general population in a nasty prison somewhere.

That is what should really rattle peoples' cages. The ADL reported a decrease in anti-Semitism, except for violent assaults.

ADL audit: Anti-Semitic incidents down in U.S., assaults up

NEW YORK (JTA) — The number of anti-Semitic incidents in the United States decreased by 19 percent in 2013, but physical assaults against Jews increased, according to the Anti-Defamation League.

In its Annual Audit of Anti-Semitic Incidents, the ADL reported that there 751 incidents in 41 states and Washington, D.C. — among the lowest number since 1979, when the ADL began collecting data. The number of incidents has been steadily declining for the past decade.

The audit includes assault, vandalism and harassment targeting Jews and Jewish property and institutions reported to ADL’s 27 regional offices and the police.

“In the last decade we have witnessed a significant and encouraging decline in the number and intensity of anti-Semitic acts in America,” said Abraham Foxman, ADL’s national director, in a statement. “The falling number of incidents targeting Jews is another indication of just how far we have come in finding full acceptance in society, and it is a reflection of how much progress our country has made in shunning bigotry and hatred.”

----

“The high number of violent in-your-face assaults is a sobering reminder that, despite the overall decline in anti-Semitic incidents, there is still a subset of Americans who are deeply infected with anti-Semitism and who feel emboldened enough to act out their bigotry,” Foxman said.
