That's a funny definition of patriotism you've got there, fella

by Hunter .

I have a question about the Nevada rancher who nearly caused various of our nation's fine militia folks to start shooting at federal agents, so determined they were to protect Mr. Cliven Bundy's right to graze his private herd of cattle on whatever land he feels like free of charge forever and ever because libberty.

Bundy doesn’t recognize the federal government. Speaking to conservative radio host Dana Loesch last week, he said he believes in a “sovereign state of Nevada” and abides by all state laws, but, “I don’t recognize the United States government as even existing.”

So if that's the case, why does he keep waving American flags around?

I can't quite figure out how/why he's been allowed to get away with thumbing his nose at the law for so long. He's been pretty openly giving them the finger for a long time.

Republicans all claim to own patriotism, and yet every single one of them define themselves as not believing government is good for anything. None of them believe in the United States (although admittedly most of them at least believe it exists).

They don't actually believe in small government, if they did they would have hated Bush. They love government when it benefits the wealthy, they only hate it when it benefits the common citizen.

He's enraged at the idea of somebody telling him that public resources don't exist for the purpose of enriching his private business.

a vague concept of the "motherland" (or "fatherland&quot and usually to a dominant ethnic, racial and/or linguistic group who are the only "real" citizens. The idea of being "patriotic" to the concepts of equality in diversity, human rights over states rights and effective democracy are foreign to the far-right and most republicans.

But they can't seem to quote the second amendment often enough. And then they scream about their "rights as citizens".

...the hell doesn't the Feds give the State of Nevada an ultimatum - you stop this bastard or we will and it won't be pretty...and by the way, whatever money, ultimately, gets collected you keep. Otherwise, 'send in the drones' - either on the militia (women and all), the cattle, or both.

11. Heller vs. Reid:

Apr 2014
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) on Friday got some public pushback from fellow Nevada Sen. Dean Heller (R) for calling the supporters of rancher Cliven Bundy's standoff "domestic terrorists."

“What Sen. Reid may call domestic terrorists, I call patriots,” Heller said on KSNV-TV as quoted by Roll Call, with Reid sitting to his side. “We have a very different view on this.”

Found this comment in a Daily Kos diary:

How many Federal elections has Bundy voted in?

Cliven Bundy, backed by his well-armed well-wishers, claims he "a citizen of Nevada and not a citizen of the territory of the United States."

If he's not a U.S. citizen, as he claims, but he voted in Federal elections, then he should be charged with voter fraud as well.
