Kochs pissing away their money: conservatives are spending a shit-ton on ads-yet getting NOTHING

by kos

Yes, unregulated big money shouldn't be in politics. But I want to keep hammering this home: conservatives are spending a shit-ton on ads, and yet they are getting ZERO from them. The entire point of an attack ad is to drive a candidate's support down, and yet nothing here suggests its working. The Kochs may have spent over $30 million thus far this year alone, but they have nothing to show for it -- Democratic candidates aren't bleeding support, and the Affordable Care Act is becoming more popular. It's a lose-lose.

The Dems' nadir came last November in the wake of the disastrous HealthCare.gov rollout. But they're clawing back, and with Obamacare defused as a campaign liability, that only appears to be accelerating.

So yes, let's keep fighting to keep money out of politics, but don't let those Koch millions bring you down. In fact, be happy -- our democracy is not yet for sale, and the Kochs really are pissing their money away.

Eventually they'll sober up and realize that their game has failed!

We'd need a universe with and without the Koch bros to know if their money was making an impact. Maybe we'd have been up by 10 without the constant stream of Republican propaganda. I'm hoping there's a saturation point where they start costing the GOP support merely by association.

When they see Democrats increasing in numbers in government, they -will- switch targets. A point to remember. Always learn about who you're voting for.

Who says that without those adds support would not be much higher. Just because they are not winning on this issue does not mean the adds are not having a huge impact.

They got and kept tax cuts that exceed what they spend on their political hobby.

They got stand your ground laws to protect their henchmen, when the unwashed come with their pitch forks and torches.

They got political henchmen to protect the corporation from the EPA.

They got an entire political party and the entire conservative entertainment industry to do their propaganda.

It killed them in the last presidential race when obvious grifters were kept alive only be the grace of having a big money backer. This alone forced Romney to continue fighting the batshit insane until well into the race. Essentially ending his candidacy before he ran. You're seeing it now in the state level where normally safe shoe in Senators are fighting to keep their seat against hand picked batshit crazy candidates of big money. The money is completely destroy the Republicans party to the point they are the majority in the house in name only as so many of their members are there to only represent one rich man's view. It has lead to the worst performing house in perhaps ever. The party is killing itself by supporting this unlimited spending and they don't get it. Each rich man in a form of highlander economics thinks they will be the only one left standing.
