I will never vote for Obama again for President. (made you look )
Two and half more years of this President who has had to clean up more garbage than any President in my life time.. including Clinton after the Reagan/Bush the elder years.
Has he been perfect.. nooooo But I never ask for perfect.. I ask for doing the best you can with what you got.. and he has done that!
Much to the chagrin of those who have worked their best since day one to dismiss him as less than.. he has been able to do the impossible.

So yes, Yay!
those that cheer every breadcrumb and ignore every 100 ton stone dropped on their head are the "we don't stink as bad as the other guys" crowd.
The rest of us you intended to badmouth are the reality based community.
Is it better? Sure, but it's a matter of degrees, and we're measuring them in decimals.

(16,149 posts)so if you're a Republican, I guess you'd be "happy enough." Too bad we can't get a REAL DEM who actively supports the DEM Party Platform to make a run for the WH. And HRC is most assuredly NOT that candidate. This is how we know there are too many Reagan Republicans that have joined our "Big Tent."

(27,787 posts)The folks on the left who hate Obama can't field a candidate worthy of their support.
Which makes them kind of grumpy.

(3,919 posts)sometimes, i think he made a deal at the crossroads the morning after his election. he gets to win a few social justice issues victories and make history as the first african american president.
and on that fateful morning - when the koch brothers, wall street, and the mega corporations showed him their writing on the wall they told him: he would only get what he could get; they would stall him where ever and when ever they could; and he was not to interfere with their plans to continue exploiting our economy to the last damn penny, raping america's resources and dragging the middle class and poor into the ground.

Perhaps even before, as Dylan once sang: "The masters make the rules for the wise men and the fools."
There was a brief straying from the truth of this maxim in the '30s, '60s, and early/mid-'70s. Then the masters re-asserted themselves.

(1,428 posts)But he keeps his eye on the prize and is playing the long game. If he would have been balls to wall for jailing banking and war criminals straight out of the gate he would still be fighting those battles. With marginal support from spineless Democrats and full on Jihad from the Republicans he wouldn't have gotten far. His goal seems to be improving the lives of average Americans and laying ground work for future improvements.
Would I have preferred him to channel Samuel Jackson and take no prisoners? Yes. But realistically he would have hampered all the successes he has made.
Bravo Barack! Bravo!

(30,058 posts)I never think there will be the perfect president and I may not agree with all of the decisions he may make but he has been consistent with my expectations. What I do know is the GOP Platform is not good for the USA and therefore do not agree with decision most Republicans make.

He makes it look easy, it must be rather unpleasant dealing with those cretins!

(27,787 posts)... kind to President Obama.
2 wars. A 2nd Great Depression speeding towards us. Healthcare out of control. Social issues being won by the GOP.
By the time he leaves office, he'll have made huge amounts of progress across the board.
Those who hate him now, will not be pleased with how strong his Presidency looks 5, 10, 50 years after.

(36,437 posts)It was the same with FDR, who some of these clownish goldbrickers claim to idolize (though they consistently get the history wrong). Our present crop of Obama haters on the Left are the rough equivalent of Lovestoneites.
What's that? You don't know what a Lovestoneite is?
EXACTLY.

(13,340 posts).... And my support for him. He's the first candidate I actually donated money to, and the first I enthusiastically volunteered for. Have I gotten all I hope for? No. But I have seen a President who knows how to advance, even if just by inches. High minded ideals are fine land all, but in the end, we live in the real world, and we must make advances when and where we can.
