I enjoy puns, even bad ones; it was not a terribly heavy thread to begin with; many other threads have been devoted to the same subject; avoiding a subthread is very easy; and, as a general rule, I don't believe in trying to control the relatively harmless posting behavior of others.

grazing rights and rights to enter the property. Rent is due for both kinds of benefits. The analogy holds. (That's why I used it here myself last Wednesday http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=4832007.)

However, because the landlord in this case is the government, maybe a better analogy would be not paying any federal taxes, even withholding, losing your case in every possible federal court and still getting a pass

....for the price of a pack of smokes and a six pack of Coors we might find you an aging drunk 'saloon-girl' to hang out near your front door to distract any landlords who may come a-knockin'.

(This could in theory buy you the time to slip out the back for a quick get-away before the posse arrives).

And now for something entirely different and yet curiously relatable:

I have no lover for right wing militias, but I have no power over them, either. My government does, and, at least in theory, I have some power over my government. So, I think it's more productive for me to focus on what my government is or is not doing.

Same reason I focus on government, not corporations or lobbyists.

Everybody is going to do what he, she or it is going to do. I can do zero to change them. However, in theory, anyway, I can impact government, which is supposed to be in charge of both law abider and law breaker, but especially law breaker.

Inasmuch as they haven't been paying, they've been stealing and trespassing.
