Consistently Wrong Bill Kristol Floats Clinton-Petraeus 2016 Ticket

DANIEL STRAUSS – APRIL 21, 2014, 2:54 PM EDT

Bill Kristol is at it once again and his latest forecast is a doozy: a Hillary Clinton- David Petraeus 2016 presidential ticket.

The former secretary of state is perhaps the most popular name mentioned as a 2016 presidential candidate. Petraeus had been mentioned as a presidential candidate before but those prospects sank after an extramarital affair triggered his resignation from the CIA.

Kristol, the editor of The Weekly Standard, floated the idea as an aside in the latest issue of his email newsletter. "By the way, a savvy friend is absolutely convinced her running mate in 2016 will be David Petraeus—something worth thinking about, perhaps," he said.

The type of GOP candidate who would have to defeat the "elitist and dynastic" Hillary would have to be one from "Middle America who speaks for Middle America in ways understandable to Middle America," Kristol added.

Kristol has made a few 2016 field predictions before. He recently said that Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) would certainly not run in 2016. But the pundit has made a few predictions that turned out to be wrong so take these recent ones with a grain of salt.

What are his qualifications and why should his opinion be taken seriously by anyone?

One of those great mysteries of American politics: how the chronically wrong and egregiously unqualified become "experts" and "pundits" on everything from foreign policy to how things need to be explained to "middle America."

His father, the late Irving Kristol, served as the managing editor of Commentary magazine and has been described as the "godfather of neoconservatism".[3] His mother, Gertrude Himmelfarb, was a scholar of Victorian era literature. He graduated in 1970 from The Collegiate School, a preparatory school for boys.

Kristol is associated with a number of prominent conservative think tanks. He was chairman of the New Citizenship Project from 1997 to 2005. In 1997, he co-founded the Project for the New American Century (PNAC) with Robert Kagan. He is a member of the board of trustees for the free-market Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, a member of the Policy Advisory Board for the Ethics and Public Policy Center, and a director of the Foreign Policy Initiative. He is also one of the three board members of Keep America Safe, a think tank co-founded by Liz Cheney and Debra Burlingame, and serves on the board of the Emergency Committee for Israel and the Susan B. Anthony List.[2]

Inherited punditry.

"Keep America Safe"?! I bet it took the entire "think tank" hours and hours to come up with that jewel.
