Wasn't there a DU campaign to "Save David Gregory" years ago?

I don't recall the details...he said something against Bush's war machine or something, can't recall the exact circumstances. NBC (or whomever was his employer at the time) was/did fire him for his insolence. There was a whole online campaign started to petition the network to save David Gregory as one of the few outspoken voices against the war/Bush. Maybe it didn't start on DU, but it was out there.

Anyone remember this? What happened to the prick? Was it all a smokescreen from the beginning, or did he get more comfortable being a beltway insider once he started getting invited to all the parties and dancing with Rove?

and his MSNBC show. I think what happen to both Gregory and Todd post Countdown goes to show how much talent Olbermann had and how little some of his "guests" had. It appears without Keith's real talented staff to work with them these people can't hack it. Look at Dennis Miller once his joke writers dumped him. Your staff can make you look much better than you really are. If Gregory wants to improve then MSNBC needs to improve the people that work off camera.

David Schuster seams to have totally disappeared.

David Gregory lives on.

We all suffer because of it.

Gregory offended C-plus Augustus at a joint press conference with the President of France in Paris. After asking Bush a question in English, Gregory asked the French President Chirac a question in French. Before Chirac could answer, Bush interrupted with a snippy comment.

At the time, Dancing Dave seemed to be one of the good guys. Since that time, however . . .

That's why I posted the OP...I couldn't figure out how anyone once defended this guy. It turns out no one did, I was thinking of David Schuster. Who was disappeared after publicly dissing the BFEE.

That's why I love DU (except for when I hate it). The most knowledgeable group on the interwebs!
