Twenty Years Ago Today - Richard Nixon Dies

Richard Nixon

There are a lot of things you can say about Nixon. Consider this, though: when Nixon was president,

1) The U.S. established relations with mainland China.
2) The EPA was established.
3) OSHA was established.

Those three things alone would have the teabag crowd calling for his impeachment.

On Domestic issues at any rate. He also proposed and nearly passed the Negative Income Tax and that's not even in the same room, let alone on the table these days.

Nixon, but there's a part of me that regrets that a man of such gifts wasted himself and ruined himself because of insecurity and raging paranoia.

He could have accomplished so many more great things if he hadn't been such a bastard. He could have benefited from his Quaker upbringing if he hadn't rejected it wholesale.
