(10,491 posts)I'm in favor of legalization, but it just seems like such a strange thing to be passionate about.
It also seems strange when you consider that if I posted pictures of a thousand people smoking cigarettes in a park, people here would be calling for the national guard.

American's celebrated across the country.

(10,491 posts)Booze was far more ingrained in certain cultures. Plus, it was allowed and then taken away. Plus, it's being taken away created a whole host of new problems.
My best friend has always been obsessed with legalization. Which seems weird to me because a) I don't think he would ever smoke in a public place, b) would never smoke in front of his daugther, and c) was never lacking in supplies in the first place.
It's like he has spent 25 years wanting to make sure that the .01 percent chance he had of being charged with a misdemeanor never occurred.

(24,135 posts)Isn't so different than most parents who enjoy weed in Colorado.
A. We don't smoke in public.
B. We don't smoke in front of our kids ... until they are in mid-twenties and smoke it themselves.
C. Retired parents who don't have connections can drive to the nearest dispensary without fear of jail. (I know many aging hipsters who have gone back to the pot in the past year)

(10,491 posts)I hip, man.
I'm with it.
But I know folks for whom this is the only "political" issue they care about. And I find that deeply odd.

(10,491 posts)Because I'm not sure there are any truly strong anti-marijuana people left.
The whole pro-pot/anti-tobacco thing on the Left utterly puzzles me - when I think about it, which is not often.
The kind who go into screaming fits when someone dares to use tobacco near them. I don't use tobacco, and won't use pot. I just don't like anti-tobacco zealots.
