Loaded Republican primary awaits votes in two weeks

The signs are up and the die has been cast for the May primary in Shelby County.

Voters can turnout on May 6 for the primary election from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.

This year's Republican primary features several contested races, with the biggest being the Shelby County Sheriff race, which has five candidates.

U.S. Representative and Republican Luke Messer is not facing any opposition in a primary for the 6th Congressional District; however, there are three Democrats vying for an opportunity to unseat Messer.

Those candidates are Susan Hall Heitzman, Lane Siekman and Corinne Nicole Westerfield.
