Ukraine's Maidan protesters: 'The revolution is not finished yet'

The words of the senior figure in Pravy Sektor, a far-right Ukrainian nationalist movement, were clear and adamant. "The revolution is not finished yet," said Andriy Tarasenko. "And the aim of the revolution is to break the old system."

Mr Tarasenko was speaking not of the separatist crisis in eastern Ukraine, but of the protesters who remain camped in Independence Square in the heart of Kiev more than two months after they braved snipers' bullets to overthrow Viktor Yanukovych, the fallen president.

The old regime might be gone, but the square known to all Ukrainians as the "Maidan" remains filled with green tents, flying the blue and yellow colours of the national flag. In among them are a few thousand resident protesters, including supporters of Pravy Sektor.

Ukraine is a country gripped by two rolling revolutions. One is taking place in the eastern region of Donetsk, where pro-Russian activists have proclaimed the birth of their own republic, and the other is still unfolding in Kiev, where some of the protesters who toppled Mr Yanukovych now want to bring down Ukraine's new leaders.
