Gov. Sam Brownback was in Lawrence Friday to address the 36th annual class of Leadership Kansas, a program of the Kansas Chamber that prepares selected young adults to be leaders in business and government.
But he also managed to avoid the roughly dozen or so teachers who had gathered to greet him outside the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire St. He entered and exited the center from the alley behind the building instead of in front, where half of New Hampshire Street remains closed because of construction.

(34,108 posts)He is as big a coward as Brownback. I have never seen anyone run from making a decision as fast as Davis, he talks big but does little. Besides, he will not have enough power to overcome our legislature so even if he does not just whine and say OK I will sign it it won't matter.
Sorry, my experience with Davis was sadly to see him as another spineless, keeping his powder dry, cowering so as not to have someone shake their finger in disapproval at him guy.
Have you heard one single word out of Jill Docking? Again, nobody is allowed to stir his pot up. Shut up and go along the path of least resistance.
*****I know this is a very unpopular comment but the man will not help us move forward, that would take courage and the times I have had to try to help push him forward for LGBT or women he has fought back as hard as he could to avoid having to make a real stance or change. He never DID make the change that was needed and here we sit having to fight the dems that he leaves in charge of committees that vote as right wing as the teabaggers do and write legislation with them. Coward.

(34,108 posts)and have faith in him. This is what I have personally seen of him. It is all too familiar these days. The frightened Democrat. He talks big so lets hope he will act big but I have HUGE doubts after what I witnessed. This year after the REFRA bill passed the house he had the nerve to say that people were more worried and focused on other things, as if allowing even our government to pick out LGBT and deny them service was not important. We got on that right away and he changed his statement or made another but it took being pushed and made to look like a jerk to get that out of him. I do not consider him of friend of LGBT. Many do, perhaps under more comfortable situations (Lawrence) he is able to actually be kinda like a liberal. Outside of that situation I think he is just a go with the flow typical spineless politician who happens to call himself a Democrat.
He WOULD be better than Brownback but we will not be able to get bills out of our legislature that are any different than we are getting now. I don't think there is a chance in hell we can even come close to electing enough Democrats and moderate Republicans to have anything of good nature or intelligence come out of that body. SO with that said, we would have a Democratic Governor who signs these horrible bills (that most people hate but still would not vote for anyone else than their old R representative) and will further move people solidly to the right.....if there is anymore right to go to.
This is just my opinion based on personal experience. I would be thrilled to come on here and eat every single word I have typed here about this. THRILLED.
