Man with gun causes scare during children’s baseball game

Man with gun causes scare during children’s baseball game

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. —

Parents at a Forysth County park abruptly stopped a children's baseball game after growing suspicions of the behavior of a man carrying a gun in a waist holster Tuesday night.

"He's just walking around [saying] 'See my gun? Look, I got a gun and there's nothing you can do about it.' He knew he was frightening people. He knew exactly what he was doing," said parent Karen Rabb.

Rabb told Channel 2’s Tom Regan the parents grew so alarmed that they brought the game to a halt when the man declined a request that he leave a parking lot overlooking the baseball field.

“He scared people to the point where we stopped the game, took the kids out of the dugout and behind the dugout, and kind of hunkered down,” Rabb said.

In the wake of the standoff at Bundy's ranch, I expect many more stories like this one.

Although not 80% opposed,...

"...a January poll by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that found 72 percent of registered voters statewide oppose allowing firearms in houses of worship, while 26 percent said they favored the idea. The remaining 2 percent either did not answer or were not sure how they felt about the idea."

"The poll also asked how did people feel about allowing people to carry firearms on college campuses and in dorms. Seventy-eight percent said they oppose the idea. Again, it showed a higher percentage of women were against the idea than men. Again, it showed a larger percentage of older voters were against the idea than younger voters. Seventy-one percent of Republicans polled said they were against allowing firearms on college campuses. More than 90 percent of Democrats opposed the idea."

"...a poll conducted by Georgians for Gun Safety in 2010. It showed 76 percent of the respondents felt the state "definitely should not" allow anyone with a gun permit to carry a firearm into a house of worship. An additional 10 percent said Georgia "probably should not" allow gun permit holder to carry in a house of worship."

"In 2013, Atlanta’s NBC affiliate, 11 Alive, polled Georgians on the topic. It found 64 percent thought it should "remain unlawful" for firearms to be carried into churches. Twenty-six percent supported the idea. Sixty-five percent of those who responded to the poll said the law should be illegal to carry firearms on college campuses."

Apparently the mother explicitly supported the law on her Facebook page. She's got no call to be whining about the effects of it now, and I have no sympathy.

more than likely he would have been shot in the parking lot by the sheriff, instead of "There's nothing I can do about it."

The parents felt super SAFE with the man carrying his gun in his waist holster for all to see (he has the "right" to carry his gun in malls, restaurants, airports, parks, stores, bars, etc. etc.)! Gives you a warm safe feeling

Sooner or later we are going to have a shoot-out caused by the gun carry nuts. They showed up in Arlington, TX in the parking lot of a restaurant where 4 moms were having lunch and discussing ways to protest open carry. The open carry crowd was walking around flaunting their high powered rifles with some hunkered down behind cars with their guns pointed and ready to shoot. Mark my words, it is just a matter of time before innocent people are shot.
