Beyonce the most influential person? According to TIME

I am sure that the tens of thousands of refugees and sick and hungry people in Central Africa and in Syria and other places in the word have no idea what Beyonce is.

What has she possibly done to make the world better? Invented new cure for cancer, or HIV, or the Ebola Virus? Brokered peace agreement? Accompanied girls in Afghanistan to their schools?

She is on the cover. Next, TIME has Robert Redford and Jason Collins (a jock, I think). And Serena Williams and Pharrell Williams. And "the duo behind the disappearing image" whatever that is.

All artists and sports people who, how, exactly influence the world?

TIME managed to put GM Mary Barra on page 3 and Janet Yellen down the road.

One really has to turn the pages to find Jeff Bezos of Amazon and Washington Post, and Aliko Dangote - a wealthy Nigerian working to improve health care in Nigeria. And later Ertharin Cousin, the head of the U.N. World Food Programme.

But, I suppose, this is what sells magazine and this is what too many Americans care.

When I saw the amount of attention and hype dedicated to the Superbowl - I was grateful that we do not throw the losers into the lions' den.

She released an album via Facebook and Instagram, thus shattering the music industry rules..

And one of her songs is aimed to empower girls to "run the world." And that she is "not bossy; she is the boss."

Right, singing is cheap. I have to wonder how many girls can rule the world if they live in poverty, if they are being assaulted, if they are being held back, not even allowed to go to school.

I mean, the "Just look at what I've accomplished by believing in my dreams and you can too," crap is often what passes for "empowerment".

but i do think these "news" magazines are mostly doing fluff to try to sell .

if it was people magazine i can understand but time should focus on more serious news.
