The story of Dean Angstadts sudden embrace of Obamacare made MSNBC last night. Host Chris Hayes picked up on a heartwarming story in the Philadelphia Inquirer about a 57-year-old logger of Boyertown, Pa., whod resisted signing up for Obamacare coverage but finally relented under the urging of a friend.
Noted Hayes of Angstadt, He was so resistant to the thought of submitting to the tyrannical Obamacare pushed by a party he despises that he refused to sign up, even though he needed to have a heart valve replaced. Finally, his friend basically staged an intervention, helping him apply and choose a plan, which then enabled him to have life-saving surgery. And without that, Angstadt says quote I probably would have ended up falling over dead.
In an interview with the Erik Wemple Blog today, Angstadt reported having watched that MSNBC segment online today. It was an introduction of sorts: You wouldnt have caught me dead watching MSNBC, said Angstadt. Thats probably the longest Id ever sat and watched MSNBC in my life.

(14,449 posts)You should see the bashing of the President this morning. They are saying that he has low popularity numbers. That his Ukraine situation is not popular among American people. ACA has only gone up one point to 36 percent of approval by American people. I had to ensure I was on the right channel and not Fox News.

(1,363 posts)...Got the Sterling penalty wrong, I was watching it at the time that Joy reid made the wrong punishment call. they're really falling on their asses over there. I'm going back to Free Speech TV and watch Stephanie Miller.

(32,617 posts)I didn't hear Joy do any such thing. Are you paid to post redirects?

(269,246 posts)Joy, Shuster and several others said indefinite suspension and $5M fine.
I know because I posted it here and had to correct/update.
DURHAM D
(32,617 posts)not the actual reporting of the news. There is a big difference. I turned on Joy just before the presser started so did not hear the prediction part.
Joy is the best of MSNBC. I like Stephanie but as far as I know she is only on live in the mornings on XM so I found the redirect beyond odd.
malaise
(269,246 posts)the maximum fine.
I am a big fan of Rachel Maddow - no one does background homework like Rachel's team.
There will be no redirect here
DURHAM D
(32,617 posts)In their defense I believe the maximum fine allowed was a secret until the press conference so I guess her producers had a bad source of two who were just speculating and trying to be "in the know". Guess that will be the last time they trust that source(s).
There is another poster on DU who for years has done nothing but bash the females on MSNBC - Rachel, Alex, Joy, Andrea, Chris and Tamara. I guess he generally has issues with women. I forget his name.
malaise
(269,246 posts)Good point about issues with women. I don't understand how anyone dislikes Rachel's detailed introductions to her segments. I love her approach - background and context are very important.

(17,055 posts)I almost always walk away from her show having learned something and she never bores me.
Stellar
(5,644 posts)and I hope she makes those next day corrections (or as soon as possible) the way that Rachel does.

(1,363 posts)I blame the MSNBC producers, and their rush to scooping something that is incorrect. Thanks, malaise, for backing up what I saw! (Thought Me and my wife were losing our collective minds!)

(1,363 posts)And reported that the fine would be $5M, and sanctions of 1 year. totally false, but then, she reads whatever they put in front of her, I put the blame on the editors. Similar situation: breaking news about that Justin Beiber instead of the actual news. they broke away from the actual news to get in something about that unruly punk. MSNBC has been failing their progressive audience. And your snide quip about being paid to post redirects, well, that speaks of your angst. We will leave it there.
