so that you can talk about Benghazi.
Former Rep. Allen West's (R-FL) read on coverage of Donald Sterling is that it acted as a distraction from the real ongoing scandal: Benghazi.
In a blog post, West argued that Sterling's racist comments and the National Basketball Association's response by banning him from the league received an an undue amount of coverage compared to other issues, like Benghazi.
Here are the key paragraphs of West's post:
Or how about the lies and deceit of President Obama on healthcare and of course Benghazi, which we now know a video had nothing to do with.
Has our culture devolved to the point that the private statements of an NBA owner draws more outrage than the lies and deceit of the President of the United States?

(32,102 posts)They don't necessarily want to switch the subject to Benghazi. They just don't want to talk about it--period. I participate in a sports-related discussion board. Yesterday, one of the two resident tea baggers there basically posted, "Don't even bring up." Others blew him off, and brought it up. I'm not completely sure why he wanted the subject avoided, but I suspect he was not happy that the racists lost here. The other one was whining about it being discussed, too. I'm sure they'll disappear for a few days like they do every time something like this comes up, and other members point out how wrong they are.
