Neo-Nazis Honor Ukrainian SS on Holocaust Memorial Day

March for the Waffen, 14th volunteer division of the SS, irks local authorities. Is Neo-Nazism in Ukraine becoming endemic?

Isrealnationalnews.com

Around 500 neo-Nazi supporters marched in Lvov to commemorate the creation of the 14th SS-Volunteer Division ‘Galician’ on April 28, 1943, according to RT.

Many of the demonstrators bore the SS Galician divisional insignia - a yellow lion and three crowns on a blue background - and wore nationalist shirts with the Ukrainian colors.

Demonstrators cried “SS Galician Division!," “Glory to the nation – death to enemies!," and “Bandera and Shukhevich are heroes of Ukraine!” according to UNIAN news agency. The march ended earlier than expected due to the chants after locals submitted a slew of complaints; the march's organizers apologized.

I was waiting for a pathetic rebuttal to make the effort. I know I saw it but I had to dig up the links, so thanks for doing that!

You proved the point quite well. Putin's Russia allows Nazi's to march freely, Ukrainians shame them from public light and make them apologize and scurry away. Pretty remarkable contrast, there. Those who support Putin's Russia support Nazi's, literally.

But many Russians embrace it. Specifically United Russia which is Putin's go to party to shut down dissent. Especially when it concerns freedom of the press and gay rights. Those thugs are there, to crack down on anyone who dares question Moscow or the Kremlin.

But it is a little distasteful since essentially folks are letting geopolitics kind of dance all over the graves of the 30 who were massacred. Since that is really what these discussions are coming from.

The FACT is Right Sector was involved in a massacre. False equivalence, not to mention just a little disrespectful.

Commemorating the SS is rationalized away.

14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS (1st Ukrainian)

The 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS (1st Ukrainian) (German: 14. Waffen Grenadier Division der SS (galizische Nr.1), prior to 1944 titled the 14th SS-Volunteer Division "Galician" (German: 14. SS-Freiwilligen Division "Galizien&quot was a World War II German military formation initially made up of volunteers from the region of Galicia with a Ukrainian ethnic background but later also incorporated Slovaks, Czechs[2][3] and Dutch volunteers and officers. Formed in 1943, it was largely destroyed in the battle of Brody, reformed, and saw action in Slovakia, Yugoslavia and Austria before being renamed the first division of the Ukrainian National Army and surrendering to the Western Allies by 10 May 1945.

Where? What post?

It's clear that the Ukraine Nazi's are an insignificant minority, comparable to the US's Nazi groups! Just, pitiful, pathetic, nothings. They were shut down in Ukraine as they are in the US. They are nothing.

But in Russia, they march freely, without repercussions. Why is that, I wonder? Maybe because United Russia and Putin channel nationalist, racist, neo-Nazi rhetoric?
