Bad Cop No Donut, 3 May 2014: Drunken Trigger Happy NYPD'ers On Parade

Blind-drunk cop shot stranger 6 times: police

A city cop started his day with a little target practice at the NYPD firing range — and ended it by getting blind drunk at a bar, pulling out his gun and blasting a random stranger who had pulled up next to him in a car, police sources said Wednesday.

NYPD Officer Brendan Cronin drove up to a stoplight just past the city border in Pelham, Westchester, a bit before midnight Tuesday and allegedly unloaded his boozy barrage at a passenger in another car.
He fired 13 shots, hitting the man six times, the sources said.

Cronin, 27, capped his night of misadventure by nearly getting himself killed — allegedly pointing his Glock 9mm at officers who stopped him after he fled the scene of the shooting.

Detective shoots partner, drives ‘drunk’ to hospital

A Brooklyn detective got blitzed on his way to a robbery investigation Thursday and drunkenly shot his partner in the hand while showing him his old-school six-shooter, police sources said.
With blood all over the front seat, Detective Jay Poggi, a 31-year veteran, drove Matt Sullivan to the hospital despite a blood-alcohol level that allegedly was above the legal limit, the sources said.

The shot cop, who has been on the job 15 years, needed surgery on his wrist, but was in stable condition. Poggi was arrested for DWI.

The detectives had set out from the 75th Precinct in East New York around 1 a.m., telling their bosses they were tracking a robbery suspect in the Rockaways.

But instead of hunting down leads, the detectives stopped off at the Cross Bay Diner in Howard Beach, Queens, where “they sell beer,” a source said.

Latest ‘drunk’ cop accused of shooting woman’s car after date

Yet another NYPD cop has been busted for drunkenly firing their weapon — the third in less than a week.
Sergeant Wanda Anthony of the 122nd Precinct was arrested in Watchung, NJ, early Wednesday when she fired a shot into another woman’s car at around 3:30 a.m., sources said.

The Staten Island cop, who has a tattoo of an AK-47, was wasted at the time and was coming home from a date with a man when his wife stormed out of the house and confronted her, sources said.

During the argument, she pulled out her service weapon and fired, hitting the car, the sources said. No one was injured.
Anthony was charged with driving with intoxicated. Sources said more charges may be pending in the incident.

I went to grade school w. this guy:

>>>“We have not been able to find any link between the two persons,” said Pelham Police Chief Joseph Benefico. “We have nothing to link either party to each other — no road rage, nothing.”>>>

The police chief, that is; not the shooter.

Speaking of which.... that is one lucky shooting victim: 6 hits and he's still talking to the cops.
