HGTV cancels show about vicious bigot Benham brothers...

Apparently they make money "flipping" houses, but they are just like their Dad, Flip Benham, a vicious homophobe, rabble-rouser, religious bigot and "pro-life" terrorist.

HGTV Backs Away From Reality Show Starring Anti-Gay Activist Following RWW Report

Submitted by Brian Tashman on Wednesday, 5/7/2014 12:15 pm

HGTV announced today that the recently unveiled reality TV show, Flip it Forward, about realtor David Benham, a virulent anti-gay activist, will not move forward after all. Yesterday, the network said it was in the “process of reviewing all information about the Benhams.” As we reported yesterday, David Benham is a right-wing activist who has campaigned against LGBT equality and reproductive rights, taking after his father, preacher Flip Benham:

Are they really paying people huge salaries to overlook such obvious things? Or do they expect to be the new Duck Dynasty folks?
I am going to have a hard time watching their shows in the future and sadly those on Travel Channel which they own. I have noticed certain underlying issues with their world view and now I'm simply going to assume that all of their on air talent and executives are comfortable with or are hate mongers because that is a choice I can make in the marketplace. Bourdain's on CNN and Steves is on PBS and they are travel television in and of themselves, the 'Travel Channel and HGTV' are redundant and unneeded programming.

"trainwreck" reality TV characters draw more viewers than the ones with sane, normal and boring people...

HGTV was probably trying to sneak this one under the radar and got sniffed out...

HGTV was featuring LGBT couples on their shows long before it became 'cool' to do so. They didn't make a big deal out of it, either, it was just, "Steve and Jake are a couple of newlyweds currently living in Jake's 900sq ft loft, looking to buy their first house together..", etc.

I like that show, and if they need to do an American version, fine, but try not to use dillweeds. HGTV is one of the few stations where GLBT have a voice and are represented.

They are very good people. Caring, very community orientated, not boasting their beliefs, and very great neighbors.
