UPDATED: HGTV calls off show starring twins who hate gays, Muslims, divorce, and public schools

UPDATE:

HGTV abruptly called off a new reality show featuring twin brothers who have organized prayer rallies against LGBT and reproductive rights and compared same-sex marriage to Nazi Germany.

“Flip It Forward,” which was scheduled to premier in October, was supposed to feature David and Jason Benham as they helped families buy, repair, and sell real estate.

The twins will “leverage their good-natured sibling rivalry to help families find a fixer-upper and transform it into the dream home they never thought they could afford,” the network said in a press release announcing nine new series for next season.

But the cable network, which is owned by Scripps Networks Interactive, announced it had dropped plans for the show less than two hours after Raw Story called seeking comment about the twins and their political activism.

My guess is not vetted. HGTV was pro-LGBT before it was cool. n/t X_Digger May 2014 #3

Either they had not vetted the hosts very well, or quickly realized the opposition to it.
Either way, not going to happen.

and have been for a long time. House Hunters, Property Virgins, and other shows have been totally nonplussed about having LGBT couples as the subjects for their shows, looking for houses, and portraying them as ordinary, loving couples like all the rest.

I have a feeling they simply did not vet these guys.

Lots of people who entertain us probably hate a lot of other people (I still remember the whole dust over Jay Z having a party where no white people were allowed).

I am personally glad they don't have a show and such. Just seems getting into personal lives outside of tv/music/plays/etc is a minefield - do you like the actor but hate the sinner If I saw a show and loved it then heard the person in it didn't believe and feel like I did on everything would it detract from the enjoyment of the show?

There is a difference between me not backing someone by refusing to watch their show and people not having a show at all.

Overall though - glad their bigotry was brought to light.
