For the welcome. I wasn't sure how serious you were so I just answered as honestly as I could. I am still getting a feel for this forum. I have seen several different perspectives presented here so that is encouraging. As for me personally, I do not affiliate with any party specifically. I just simply reject all-inclusive statements. It will appear to some that I am wishy washy but that is not the case. I know what I stand for...I just haven't seen any politician or party that embodies all that I am.

I'm not even sure what that means.

I imagine that is true for most folks. I am a Truman Dem if you look at that platform (which is similar to the Eisenhower Repub platform in some respects), and neither party perfectly represents that set of values these days.

But I can say that the modern Dems are a helluva lot closer than the GOPee. Indeed, I have been voting straight ticket Dem since the 70's.

Do you think that the entire world would be a Utopian paradise if only there was only one political party? Do you think that only Republicans cause death? Did I just skip a couple more light years with that question? I have to ask because I am not sure exactly what your statement means.

It says, "Stop voting Republican. It's killing you." Nowhere in those two sentences did I say anything about there being no other causes of death. It should be obvious that that wasn't what I was saying or implying. That, specifically, is where your giant, light-years wide leap of logic came from.

Now a really good case can be made that Republicans are causing a lot of death. To be clear, I mean death in addition to other causes, like getting old and the related problems that come with age, getting run over by cars, or busses, or being shot by people. Lack of medical care which could be had except for butt-headed Republican governors is causing (additional) death. Refusal to pass any sort of gun laws is causing death. Refusing to do anything to help the economy, such that more jobs would be available, and in addition refusing to extend unemployment is causing death. Absolute refusal to do anything about climate change is causing some death now and will likely cause a lot more death in the future.

I also believe that Democrats could do a lot more, and should. And we have a duty to push them to do that. But they are by far the lesser problem.

does that clear it up?

A statistic like this only seems to get at the heart of those who care about American lives. #Benghazi is about power and hatred of the Democratic Party. It is so obvious, but if I were to put this on facebook, I can easily imagine what the right would say. I want a statistic that shows how much they hate human beings. That seems to be at the heart of their agenda.
