Nancy Pelosi: Families of Benghazi victims have asked us not to launch new committee http://huff.to/1jJ9J8t
-- House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said the families of victims of the 2012 Benghazi, Libya, attack have reached out to lawmakers to ask them not to launch another probe into the incident.
"Two of their families have called us and said, 'Please don't take us down this path again,'" Pelosi said during her weekly press conference. "It's really hard for them. It's very sad."
Rep. Louise Slaughter's (D-N.Y.) office confirmed that a family member from the maternal side of Tyrone Woods' family called on Thursday to express support for the congresswoman's position on the issue, which is that another probe is not necessary. Woods was one of the CIA contractors killed in the attack. A Democratic aide said another family also has reached out to Democrats.

(24,721 posts)& they will proceed with their plans like bulls in a china shop.
If the Republicans insist on continuing to throw away millions of taxpayers' money on this sham, the Democrats should participate & use their five members on the panel to break the veneer of the Republicans' distorted reality. "Public perception" is what drives them to create their lies & disinformation.
With the Democrats participating on the committee, they would be in a position to invite these families to the opening day of the committee hearing to express how hurtful this political ploy is to them.
There are questions regarding Republican hypocrisy that beg to be asked publicly, such as, "Why didn't the Republicans express the same outrage about Bush/Cheney misleading the country into the Iraq invasion, which caused so many deaths of our Americans?" It's time for the Democrats to be forthright & to call it like it is -- out in the open & putting the Republicans' lack of integrity/character on full display in front of the cameras they crave so much.

(7,403 posts)Pelosi has it, Boehner does not. It is that simple.
Will Boehner attempt to find another member of those families willing to support a probe and thus tear apart these families? That would be a huge mistake. HUGE.
