The lies from the Zimmermans are getting insane:
George was out of breath. He was barely conscious.
His last thing he remembers doing was moving his head from the concrete to the grass so that if he was banged one more time, he wouldn't be wearing diapers for the rest of his life and being spoon fed by his brother and there would have been George dead.
Begins at about 11:00 into the first video:

Funny...he was walking around the police station and looking absolutely fine only 35 minutes later:

(23,278 posts)If the EMTs were worth a damn, they would have immobiled his neck and taken him to the ER.
He has an injury to post front and read head, which can lead to Coup contrecoup,an injury to the opposite side of the brain. An ER doc would have ordered a ct of the head,a C-spine xray,as well as the various array of labs(cbc, blood count,HIV,Hepatitis, and drug and alcohol levels. If he almost lost consciousness due to a head injury, they might have even kept him overnight as a precaution.

(535 posts)I am in agreement with that way of looking at a clinical intervention plan for someone claiming those injuries.
Just wondering if you heard this, or if you are saying this from your own expertise as a nurse.

(12,409 posts)My brother who has been in jail for mischief...he said they always have a medical staff at a jail that size...Medical 24/7...staffed with Medics, RN's and LPN's....so, if he was beaten, the medical nurse would have to assess this guy medically before accepting him into the jail. Assessing for clearance to be clinically safe in the jail. If not stable, he'd need medical care; maybe if acceptable and minor, non threatening stuff per the medical staff or be seen in ER if more care is required....
What say you?

(134 posts)To be honest, until a couple of days ago, I felt like there wasn't much chance that he was going to be brought to justice.
The way his story has fallen apart and gotten increasingly more desperate has both left me with a sickness over what it appears really happened, and a good deal of hope that this story is falling apart so badly, that we might actually see some justice.

(113,344 posts)you mentioned a suicide watch in another post, if I recall. it just occurred to me how he can get out of this--supposedly commit suicide, have a body conveniently cremated--end of problem. oh, and leaving a note saying he was driven to it by all the horrible publicity, and his innocent heart just couldn't take it anymore.
(note to zimmerman family--PLEASE, get yourselves a decent scriptwriter, one who can come up with something at least remotely plausible. you are clearly out of your depth)

Even if we get any justice, we may not get justice.
If an arrest warrant is ever issued, and police show up to arrest him, I don't imagine he would be able to take it.

(6,086 posts)they will forget everything right before and during the event often. they need to stop while they're "ahead". He wouldn't be walking around like that so soon after the event. Oh please man, don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining

(14,337 posts)and become very, very sleepy. Having kids, who played both soccer and ice hockey, we were always told that about concussions. Keep talking to them. See if they are coherient. Don't let them go to sleep. If they start throwing up, get them to a hospital immediately.
As I said on another thread, I have seen hockey players with helmuts on sustain concussion from being slammed into the boards or hitting their heads on the ice. Even in soccer, there was a lot of warnings about heading a ball causing concussions.
I just cannot understand how somebody could be conscientious or not sustain a concussion having their bare head smashed into concrete multiple times.

ZIMMERMAN: He's -- he would be the more honest of the two. The most honest brother. I would say. He's very straight and narrow. And you know, very helpful guy. Very concerned with his neighbor and the truth.

(37 posts)I can believe that. Didn't he call 911 something like 49 times before this incident?
That does not necessarily mean Zimmerman is guilty of a crime.
I do think we should let the facts play out first.
It could be a case of Zimmerman following Trayvon Martin, and then Martin attacking Zimmerman because he thinks Zimmerman is about to attack him.
But it looks like Zimmerman was primed to do something like this.
Boabab
(120 posts)There is NO evidence that Zimmerman was attacked at all. In fact, everything points to the contrary. The coroner has definitively stated that there are no wounds on Trayvon's hands consistent with any kind of physical struggle.
Add that to the evidence offered by Trayvon's girlfriend about their conversation just before the shooting, as well as the shooter's immaculate appearance 30 minutes later, and it becomes clear that "the attack" is just another one of Zimmerman's lies. Telling lies seems to run in the family.
The likely scenario: he stalked the young man, and then shot him from a distance in the back when he was unable to catch him.
NOLALady
(4,003 posts)because you thought you were going to be attacked? Would you attack someone nearly twice your size who had a weapon? Or would you run?

(61,650 posts)My understanding is that Florida's Stand Your Ground law allows a person to defend themselves - to the death - if they feel threatened. Trayvon certainly would have felt threatened by Zimmerman. The 911 calls prove that. So if Trayvon did attack Zimmerman (which has not been proven and which I doubt as there is no evidence that Zimmerman suffered any injuries), then Trayvon was legally within his right to do so.

(11,366 posts)Apparently, their fire department EMTs can work MIRACLES and cure people instantly!
Zimmerman was nearly unconscious, had a broken nose and severe lacerations on the back of his head, yet 35 minutes later he was walking around nonchalantly, fully conscious with no hint of a broken nose or those nasty lacerations! And, to top it off, these EMTs even miraculously clean his shirt of any blood!
What person facing a healthcare disaster wouldn't want to be treated by these fine men and women?
HockeyMom
(14,337 posts)his hospital records can be subpoenaed. You can be sure if he told them his head was slammed on concrete, the hospital would have done a catscan, and there would be a medical record of his examination.
Even a day later his "injuries" would have not have gone away.

(28,979 posts)They see hate in every black man's eyes including the president. They suffer from phantom pains. Imaginary threats to their manhood that must be met by violence. Chronic victimhood. The need to spout their innocence by proxy.
I have no doubt Zimmerman's brother might end his days spoonfeeding his brother and changing his soiled diapers. But that won't be anyone else's fault, now will it? He assaults a police officer, batters a girlfriend, is fired from a job for losing his temper and violently attacking a woman, has 911 on speed dial so he can file "reports." And he killed an unarmed teenager carrying candy.
I am not a shrink but I know when I think someone needs one.
