(19,240 posts)story. And I discovered that each of them has gone on to a group or company that had one thing in common---they all led back to these guys called the "Koch Brothers". Weird. So, I looked them up. And I wondered "Why I have never heard about these guys before?" A few liberal journalists had written about them from time to time but it was later that Rachel Maddow forced them into the spotlight---where they never really wanted to be.
I believe that they are not as rich as they claim. I believe they live in a house of cards much like Enron, but because they are a private company no one sees their books. They survive off government handouts. Their father was Stalin's oilman. When Khrushchev refused to continue the father's sweet deal, he came home and became an anti-communist who believed in corporate welfare---a Mussolini style fascist. Two different ways that people can get rich from the public coffers.
Stalinists. Mussolinists. Enron. That sums up the Kochs. Oh, and I think that Daddy was a very unpleasant man who raised his sons to be extremely neurotic and fearful.
