Republican anti-union crusader kills ailing wife, self

http://www.poynter.org/latest-news/mediawire/168424/charles-snelling-politician-and-morning-call-guest-columnist-kills-wife-self/

Charles Snelling, a businessman and well-connected Republican who wrote a regular guest column for The Morning Call in Allentown, Penn., killed his wife, Adrienne Snelling, and himself Thursday, the paper reports. Both were 81. Adrienne Snelling had dementia. “After apparently reaching the point where he could no longer bear to see the love of his life deteriorate further, our father ended our mother’s life and then took his own life as well. This is a total shock to everyone in the family, but we know he acted out of deep devotion and profound love,” their family said in a statement.

... Snelling’s last Morning Call column was about public pensions:

...The taxpayer has to understand that unions care very much about maximizing what they get from taxpayers. They're politically active. They spend money and effort electing politicians that play their game. Taxpayers are not politically active and they have not been spending time, money or energy supporting and defending politicians who defend the taxpayers.

In this climate, it easy to understand the outcome. Politicians who play the union's game get elected. Politicians who don't play the union game have a harder time getting elected. But it is not only conscientious politicians who lose under these circumstances; it is also the taxpayers.

Sorry for the wife, but good riddance to the jerk. I hope there is a special place in hell for him. I have had it with the hateful sick POS.

Public employees earn their pensions and pay for them in place of Social Security in many cases. Many public employees pay full price for their health care because they do not qualify for Medicare. I was paying over 12,000 a year for health insurance before I qualified for Medicare. Even now I pay over 10,000 a year for just my wife's policy. She qualifies next year.

I am not sorry and I just hate these bastards.

BTW Your police and firefighters rarely make it to 65 in their jobs. And the pensions they qualify for are earned and necessary. And most public employee pensions are not much more than Social Security. The huge pensions RW talks about is a lie.

R or D or I... age, suffering, death... all things we don't deal well with in our society.

under debilitating disorders and diseases for which there is no cure but a lot of human suffering for the not only the person suffering but for loved ones as well. Neither money or party affiliation prevents this.
