The Crown prosecutors office says three people and a train company will face criminal negligence charges stemming from a railway disaster that killed 47 people in Lac-Mégantic, Que., last summer.

The prosecutor's office says 47 counts of criminal negligence have been filed against Thomas Harding, Jean Demaitre and Richard Labrie as well as the Montreal, Maine and Atlantic Railway Ltd., the defunct railway at the heart of the disaster.

Rene Verret, a spokesman for the Crown's office, says the three men were placed under arrest late Monday afternoon.

Verret says the three men are employees of the railway company.
