Iranian, Russian Presidents to Visit China

Next week the Iranian and Russian presidents, along with the UN Secretary-General, will visit China to attend an international summit, according to China’s Foreign Ministry.

Late last month, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the 4th Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Summit will be held in Shanghai, China from May 20 to 21. According to the MFA press release, the theme of this year’s summit will be “increasing dialogue, mutual trust and collaboration to build a new Asia that is peaceful, stable and cooperative.”

At a regular press conference on Tuesday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying announced some of the dignitaries that will be attending the summit. Hua announced at the beginning of the press conference:



“At the invitation of President Xi Jinping, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin will pay a state visit to China from May 20 to 21 and attend the 4th Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Summit in Shanghai.

“At the invitation of President Xi Jinping, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani will pay a state visit to China from May 20 to 22 and attend the 4th CICA Summit in Shanghai.
