Why weren't bush and cheney at the...

National 9/11 Memorial Museum's emotional opening and dedication ceremony this morning?

The Obamas were there. The Clintons were there. Ghouliani was there.

Where was shrubco?? Why were they not there???

I am one of the most dedicated critics of Bush (protested both inaugurations, attended countless anti-war rallies, wrote numerous criticisms of Bush, volunteered during elections (actually co-led the local Dean group in '04), etc.), yet even I wanted to give the asshole a chance to lead us out of the devastation of 9/11.

He blew it, of course. Not that he really tried. He had another agenda to follow.

PS: I think a lot of people now recognize that pile of rubble speech for what it was: a Rovian photo op.

This is a private museum. The above ground may be free, but the Museum is $24.00 I think. They can invite anyone they choose, or not.

It's a private organization that made and runs this Museum. Who owns and runs it? I only can guess why people go to an opening of any private museum. Especially this one.

And attention on them at a 911 based event may well be something the Republicans of today wish to avoid. If Republicans would have thought an appearance of Bush anywhere would help today's candidates, they would have him there. That's why he's painting instead.

has there been any commentary at all as to why? I've even been waiting for the observation that they were absent to be mentioned in some of the coverage and follow-up reporting but so far not a whisper about them.

Let's change tack, then. Is there any record of how the 9/11 families feel about shrubco as a collective group?

9/11 was a contrived gamble by Buschco, designed to detract from the impending financial disaster that he had created in just his first few months in office. His economic policies were a disaster from the very start, and those with any knowledge of that fact, were desperate to find a way to keep Bushco in office past the 2004 election cycle.

The big problem that resulted from this, was of course, their underestimation of the lengths to which those whom they enabled would go. A couple of hijacked airplanes didn't bother them, but they never imagined that using those hijacked airplanes as weapons of mass destruction would happen.

They (Bushco) have spent nearly 13 years now trying to lie their way out of any responsibility for 9/11, even going so far as to try and have those attacks ignored as acts of terrorists.
