2. corrupt "facade democracies" like 80s Honduras and El Salvador are ALL about GOTV

the people are just an inert mass to be rallied around this or that candidate without any ideological motivation

7. +10000

Backed by a ludicrous, vapid propaganda machine. Ye shall know them by what they ridicule, and by what they absolutely refuse to stand for.

5. There are two kinds of elections.

In general elections, just vote blue.

In primary elections, vote for the best candidate. Hopefully, you'll get to vote for them again in the general election.

We can use the primary elections to steer the party - that's how the insane took over the Republican party.

Don't like the options in the primary? Get to work recruiting, or run yourself. You don't have to win to change the party's direction, you just have to make the party worry about their left flank.

Why doesn't this work in a general election? The party reacts to general election losses by trying to attract more people from the right - any loss is treated as losing to the Republican instead of insufficient support on the left. That doesn't apply to a primary election, so the party can't react to primary losses by turning right.

8. "Just vote blue" is a beginning, not a destination.

Because any other path leads to places no sane individual would want to go.

9. So does "just voting blue" without consideration for policies.

10. Democracies don't function properly when most people don't vote.

Do you think our democracy is functioning properly? When the govt refuses to address the needs or follow the wishes of the majority of the people? It's a situation the GOP created and is doing everything it can to maintain. By advocating not supporting Democrats - by either voting for ineffectual third parties or by not voting at all - you allow the GOP to continue with their destruction of everything you claim to advocate.

11. At no point did I advocate "not supporting Democrats".

At no point did I advocate "not voting at all".

12. Your thread implies that there's some rational alternative to "voting blue"

There isn't.
