Breaking: Federal Judge Strikes Down Pennsylvania's Ban on Gay Marriage

http://www.towleroad.com/2014/05/federal-judge-strikes-down-pennsylvanias-ban-on-gay-marriage.html

The American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania, the American Civil Liberties Union, and volunteer counsel from the law firm of Hangley Aronchick Segal Pudlin & Schiller filed a federal lawsuit on July 9, 2013, on behalf of 21 Pennsylvanians who wish to marry in Pennsylvania or want the commonwealth to recognize their out-of-state marriages.

The lawsuit alleges that Pennsylvania's Defense of Marriage Act and refusal to marry lesbian and gay couples or recognize their out-of-state marriages violates the fundamental right to marry as well as the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. This lawsuit comes in the wake of the ACLU's victory before the U.S. Supreme Court in U.S. v. Windsor, which requires federal recognition for lesbian and gay couples who are married in their home states. Plaintiffs argue that the court should closely scrutinize this discriminatory treatment because the state's Defense of Marriage Act burdens the fundamental right to marry and because it discriminates based on sex and sexual orientation.

...although Utah is still unadulterated panic mode that they are being forced (by the courts) to recognize those marriages that occurred while their attorney general filed some sort of a "stay" in Federal Court, pending their appeal. It's all a matter of time there too.

I lived in Wyoming and am familiar with the sacramental undergarments known as "mormon underwear" that all couples sealed in a temple must wear. Based on my information they must keep some part of them in this garment even in the shower in order to maintain the sacrament.

I have no problem with this other than it seems a bit weird. But I'm sure the leaders of the LDS church are doing their proverbial business in their undergarments over the state having to recognize 1300 same-gender marriages.

Where is it going to come to? We couldn't get our plural marriages recognized so no to the dang gays......

over there at the website that will remain un-named.

Q: "How many of the 13 [judges] are gay and appointed by Obama?"

A: "Almost all of them."

Of all the ones I looked up, only one appointed by Obama.

Reagan appointed one, GWB appointed two, and GHWB appointed three.
