Anybody know an affordable solar route for people in Illinois, specifically Chicago?

I had signed up for CitizenRE, who had planned to rent their panels to customers. However, they apparently never got their funding and went broke. I would like to either do a small outlay or lease a system. It still seems like a pretty expensive prospect to get it installed.

Thanks.

do you own or rent your home?

I was looking at buying a small complex (in another state) but was intending to install a wind/solar device from Aerotechture. They are based in Chicago so you might be able to see some of their devices in use on larger facilities (there is a hospital that uses them). They have several units which were designed with city use. I like the idea of the point-source aspects it allows.

Worth looking into depending on what your needs are and the type of structure you want to use it on. there are others, I'd imagine, but this is what I was hoping to have for my project.

I got mine about 1 1/2 years ago and was only able to afford them due to the federal rebate program.

What would have cost me (roughly) 24 grand; cost me (roughly) 5 grand. (Texas had a decent rebate as well).

I'm not sure of the current status of the Fed rebate but you might want to look into seeing if it will be funded again.

on edit: this may help you...
