MINNEAPOLIS (AP) A Fox News weekend anchor who was arrested after he allegedly became combative with police at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport may have taken a drug that didn't mix well with alcohol, a police report released Thursday suggests.
Gregg Jarrett, 59, was arrested Wednesday after police were called to the Northern Lights Grill in the airport's main terminal on a report of a customer who was "acting very intoxicated," the report said.

Officers found gabapentin pills in his pocket. A search of Jarrett's bag showed he was just released from an alcohol and chemical dependency treatment facility, the report said.
Gabapentin is approved for treating seizure disorders and pain that occurs after shingles, though it is prescribed for a number of other reasons. Side effects can include drowsiness, dizziness and loss of coordination.

Someone made a comment about multiple people getting arrested at the Minneapolis airport. Could the fact that the airport services the area which houses one of the US' largest alcohol and drug treatment facilities have anything to do with it?

(36,444 posts)But I did witness a strange dude approaching bar patrons, offering to buy drinks if they signed a court generated document attesting to the fact that he attended a court ordered AA meeting. No soap; drinkers have standards, and despite having little interest in AA or the law, they do respect them...from a distance.

(362 posts)for Neurontin (gabapentin) to be given to people upon leaving rehab for drug dependency to help them in the weeks after their release. (I'm not sure the exact reason, I think minor mood stabilization and low potential for abuse)
Not sure on interactions with alcohol, I've never taken it. But it's not out of place that he had it with him after being released.
on edit: he may have just got shitfaced drunk at the airport bar so shortly after leaving rehab that he might have had some of the medication still in his system that they give you in there, plus taking gabapentin, and it didn't go well.

(35,015 posts)Does the writer want the reader to feel sorry for Jarrett?
Jarrett has an addiction problem and after attending rehab, decided to go right back to what he was doing, made a fool of himself and got arrested.
He's obviously in pain, but the details of his arrest aren't painful.
