So consumed with his desire for the perfect blonde woman that the possibility that other non-blonde less than perfect women might have been interested in him, if he had just taken the time to see them as people, never occurred to him. I don't know how to classify him. Narcissistic is a good word, as is misfit. Why he snapped, as opposed to his friend James who had many of the same traits, but a better perspective on life, I don't know. I find the whole situation sad, that one is so deluded that he can only find satisfaction in destruction.

(20,600 posts)Just another scumbag who was a coward, a lot of these guys usually kill themselves at the end, because they are too cowardly to face the consequences of their actions.
I have zero interest in reading his disturbed rantings or watching videos of this lunatic. Time to move on, already. As Michael Moore said, this type of incident has become all too common in America.

(135,425 posts)This is a horrible tragedy.
It's not simply that this guy "chose" to be a resentful, creepy jerk. His POV towards women was something that was nurtured as a result of where he lived and what he learned as he grew up.
He's a product of a culture that rewards superficiality, he lived in an environment that prized attractiveness over intelligence, depth or substance, and he had way too much money and time. He never had to work for a thing, his problems were "First World" ones, and on top of all that, he had personality and socialization malfunctions and mental health issues.
He knew how to conduct himself in short bursts sufficiently to purchase weapons. He probably had voices in his head.
Perfect storm.
It was a disaster waiting to happen.

(531 posts)undisputed is the Elliott Rodgers was a RESPONSIBLE Gun Owner who obtained his weapons legally, a good old fashioned all American legal gun owning American until he wasn't any longer.
