Back up Generators, House gutted to studs and rebuilt, DADDY'S COMING HOME

The toughest task of my life lay ahead of me...I will be my Dad's primary caretaker.

He will have a trach and I have to show that I can clean it before he can come home.

Things are going at a frantic pace...one day's catastrophic heart failure is the next day's OOPS!

Misinterpreted directives, judgement substitutions, "let him live out his days at a vent facility" have all given way to, "He can come home if you can change the trach"

He has not gotten the trach (again) yet. It is not his favorite, but his cognition is *there* and I will fight as long as he does.

I am his voice, and I will raise it as much as I can.

I know I will need all the help I can get. The next few days will be spent getting this place ready. I want the dust to be settled for his arrival.

In the past I have been responsible for administering IV medications at home. At first it all seems daunting but quickly becomes second nature.

I still have to refinish the living room floors, the new sectional comes tomorrow. His lift chair is already here. (wrong color, but I can't let the perfect be the enemy of the good)

Then, the two last frontiers of this demo is the tear down of my bedroom walls (which would wait, but I need the dust to be settled before he gets home) and installing the new kitchen (aside: can tube feed go in the same fridge as other food?)

Then I need a back up generator in case we lose power. His equipment has to run no matter what.
