On Clooney for President -- A Better Choice than Clinton

I've seen George Clooney's name thrown around as a potential presidential candidate and a gubernatorial candidate for CA. There are some who see his political leanings as qualification enough, while others seem to suggest he just isn't experienced enough to be qualified.

I think Clooney could be for us, the progressive left, what Reagan was for the radical right. Clooney is liberal and progressive. He is intelligent and articulate. He is charismatic and compassionate. Clooney possesses the traits to both get elected and to cement progressive liberal values in mainstream America.

Electing Clooney would be the nail in the coffin for conservative Republican presidential hopes for the next 16-20 years. And in 16-20 years, the conservative Republicans will be extinct in any real numbers. Demographics in America are changing. Conservatism in it's current form isn't sustainable.

The republican base is primarily older and white. Pretty soon, they'll be an insignificant minority of voters -- though they'll still wield disproportionate economic power.

I would like to see him run in the primaries to see just how well he does.

He has plenty to begin with... And I think the hundred million dollars made by the Clinton's since they left office is solid proof that being President (and First Lady) can be quite lucrative, no?

The last person I want as president is an actor. (Hasn't anybody here learned that already?)

I really like Clooney. But it takes a very special person to be POTUS. Washington had it. Lincoln had it. FDR had it. JFK had it. (Some would argue that in some respects that Ike had it; I wouldn't argue against that.)

I just do not think that Clooney has the experience to be POTUS. As much as I love his politics. But POTUS needs more than politics.

I would love Clooney to run for congress.

to run for president. I'm not opposed to the idea as much as I think it's probably not going to happen.

he doesn't know the ins and out of working with Congress. He's be sidelined so fast your head would spin.

If Clooney were to surround himself with excellent campaign staff and advisers, his inexperience wouldn't be an issue.

I don't really think Clooney is in any way a better choice than Clinton. Potentially more popular? Sure. More liberal? Probably that, too. As politically experienced? Nope. As intelligent? I doubt it.

I am not a fan of Hillary, especially, but she did a solid job representing the people of New York State in the Senate, and then representing the USA's interests abroad as Secretary of State. She's a highly qualified and credible candidate in a way that an actor with no political experience isn't. If Clooney wants to get into politics? Let him run for governor of California, or the Senate, or Congress, and build up a CV and learn how politics and governing actually work, and then maybe in 2024 or so he can run for President.

so fuck him, no thanks. i am not into movie stars for political office just because they have been outspoken supporters of third way/ right wing Democrats. it's personality cult bullshit.
