In an interview with ThinkProgress, Martin family attorney Natalie Jackson raised serious questions about the role of George Zimmermans father, Robert Zimmerman, in the case.
....................................
The day after the shooting, George Zimmerman, according to his father, returned with at least three police officers to the Retreat at Twin Lakes, back to that grassy area where plaintive cries for help had gone unanswered. The investigators, accompanied by someone with a video camera, wanted him to re-enact the events of the night when the two strangers had stood their ground.
Mr. Zimmermans father watched from nearby.
Jackson noted that Robert Zimmerman was a retired magistrate judge who issued warrants and knows what probable cause needs to be to justify an arrest. His presence at the questioning, according to Jackson, was unusual and potentially inappropriate because we dont know what coaching went on.

Martins family was not notified for three days until his father filed a missing persons report. During that time, Martins body was tagged a John Doe in the morgue. The fact that Martin had a cell phone in his possession did not lead to his timely identification.

UPDATE:
The next day when he called Sanford police to file a missing person's report is when he learned his son was dead. The officer who responded to the town home showed him a photo of his son's body.

(12,041 posts)I recently read that Trayvon's name was in the police report filed the night of the incident, so they did have "timely identification" of the victim which makes the fact that they waited three days to notify the parents all the more suspicious.

That police can id a person very easily if they have the person's cell phone?
To the responders to my post.. You got it!!
It appears that the SPD are performing as if in the dark ages with police investigation methods.

(12,041 posts)Cell phones are very easy to trace back to a person assuming that person has the phone registered properly which most people do.

(113,496 posts)the case of trayvon, his call to his girlfriend would have led the police to his identity, assuming the police even attempted to do their job.

(134 posts)Trayvon Martin's father reported him missing the next morning, and the police showed him a photo and asked if it was his son.
Still, too long.

(30,439 posts)The FBI needs to take all of this into consideration. This is also a civil rights case. Even if Zimmerman is prosecuted by the state of Florida and found guilty on criminal charges, the Federal government needs to prosecute the Sanford PD and the State Attorney that tried to deny Trayvon his civil rights.

(1,660 posts)was present at the reenactment the next day? I don't think Zimmerman's family was there the night of shooting.
