78% in New York State support minimum wage increase

Despite Rupert Murdoch's disinformation about a proposed minimum wage increase, a whopping 78% of New Yorkers support it, according to a new poll released today by Quinnipiac University. See Link to the poll, and link to the BS being spread by Murdoch's New York Post, and debunked by Media Matters.

Being at the bottom of the wage scale will have that effect. And that was in the 70s before the value of the minimum wage dramatically eroded over time.

I now have renters who have unskilled jobs and see how much more difficult it is now to get by on $7.25 an hour. And discussions on less partisan sites show how clueless a lot of middle-class people in both parties are about the realities of being "nickel and dimed to death."

I hope NY does take the lead on this. In NYC the minimum should be $12-15 an hour -- perhaps a little less for upstate.
