"IF" the city of Sanford "comes unhinged" in wake of Zimmerman arrest, it ain't gonna be cheap.

George Zimmerman decision coming soon?

But still others wonder if there will be fights? Will there be riots? Or will there be a sudden calm.?

Sanford is a time bomb but Mayor Jeff Triplett says he is not worried…yet, "That's the concern you really don't know. It's really truly out of our hands now. We have done everything we could to get here."

And that everything means a contingency plan or two. City sources tell FOX 35 that the Seminole County Sheriff's Office and Sanford Police Department have put some of their staff on stand-by and the emergency operations center is ready to activate when and if they need it. A half a dozen public information officers are already in place and both Sanford and Seminole county fire are preparing.

Last week, Seminole County Fire Chief's met with the Department of Justice to figure out what to do if the city comes unhinged. The jails are ready if there is an arrest and the courthouse has also made its plans to keep its staff and its visitors safe. That means dozens of deputies on duty.

Seriously, this is the most bullshit kind of article there is.

Nothing but fearmongering and conjecture. They want a race war so fucking bad and it's painfully obvious.

Let's not help them get their wish, eh?

my husband has many cops as patients in Seminole county and they are preparing for anything that may happen. I hope the grand jury hurrys up and that the guy is arrested. That would be a huge start in helping the situation.

It is very tense at this time. I was so glad when Rev Al reminded people to not take the bait if they were provoked. He was awesome.

it certainly won't be those who have supported the Martin family in their call for justice as an arrest will be seen as a step in the right direction.

some crazy right winger does something ( I can think of a kabillion ways that could take place) and then there is a reaction and then a reaction to that reaction and then you have a lot of people getting hurt.

do you expect jury nullification or a hung jury? And at this point how would you even select an impartial jury in this area? It will be tough to find anyone in the area who hasn't formed an opinion.

The notion of white people rioting just struck me as absurd. There's no underlying sense of institutionalized injustice there of the sort you typically need to provoke anti-statist and anarchic political-violence. There just isn't a whole lot for Caucasians to feel oppressed and angry about culturally.

It seems they are afraid of history repeating itself.

I expect people to actually behave, to the shock and surprise of these city fathers.

Oh and forgot, this is the South after all...see this through the prism of that very special institution...that is what that fear is about. My calendar could be reading 1670 as far as I can tell.

Racial composition of Sanford:
http://www.americantowns.com/fl/sanford/info/population
Sanford Population Diversity
Race Title Elements # People of this race
White 31,910
Black 15,836
American Indian, Eskimo, Aleut 291
Asian or Pacific Islander 1,483
Other 4,500
Hawaiian or Pacific Islander 39
Hispanic 10,828

It's not exactly lily white, is it? I'm sure there's plenty of outrage and worry in Sanford. It's not a big place, and it's much more racially/ethnically diverse than the US as a whole.
