Former govs Roy Romer and Bill Owens team up to fight oil-and-gas measures

Two former Colorado governors, Democrat Roy Romer and Republican Bill Owens, have teamed up to fight oil-and-gas ballot measures that critics say would cripple Colorado’s economy.

“We’ve got some of the toughest regulations and enforcement you’ll find anywhere,” Owens says, in a new campaign ad.

“Environmentalists can turn Colorado into a national model,” Romer responds, “not by banning fracking but by making it as good as we can.”

Owens and Romer star in one of two ads that debuted Monday from Protect Colorado, the issue committee formed to fight the ballot measures, which deal with setbacks, local control and other issues surrounding fracking and drilling.

4. Hickenlooper wants to empower communities to decide on their own.

Basically if some company wants to frack in a local community it would be up for the community to decide how far from homes or water sources it can be. The fracking industry is heavily against this because it gives them a huge headache.

Hickenlooper's approach is the best way forward for communities but it is really bad for the environment still because most of the real fracking real estate is on government owned BLM property.
