State rep wants law mandating warning when gas prices rise

Jefferson City, Mo. – Tired of seeing gas prices go up every other day? One Missouri Lawmaker say gas stations should warn consumers any time the price of a gallon of gas will rise three cents or more in 24-hours.

Representative Ray Weter (R) of Nixa says his measure is about fairness.

“It’s to your benefit to fill up today rather than wait 24-hours when we know the gas prices are going to be higher. Put more money in the pocket of the consumers,”

It's always the GOPers that want new 'laws' that butt into how businesses run their business

Most of the stations, instead of posting prices per gallon, post BOHICA.

given the current world circumstances, it would always be set to red.

this guy is an idiot.

so the agency that would be established to watch over this colossally stupid idiot would never ever be crooked...ever! They will be a regular paragon of honesty.

And imagine if you will the fights, accidents and killings that would occur if this was ever instituted.

"tomorrow, the price of gas is going up 5 cents!!!! run out and get yours now, before your neighbor does!!!"

It was bad enough in the '70's and '80's when there were fights on the gas lines when supplies were cut due to, first, US production peak, then the embargo later on. i know from personal experience, my brother got into such a fight when some moron cut about a 1/2 mile of cars and pulled in front of my brother. Fists were thrown.

in the current atmosphere and with summer coming, do you honestly believe that cooler heads will prevail? LOL I have a bridge to sell you cheap!

Letting people know that prices will go up before they do, is probably one of the most colossally stupid ideas I have heard in a long time.

However, reporting that prices are due to go up, such as it's reported now, I think works fine.

If we are to fix anything, fix the way current commodities are speculated upon. That would help a lot of things and also to minimize the saber rattling regarding Iran.

But alas, as more and more nations demand more and more oil, production will have a very hard time meeting that same demand. Thus prices will go up.
