Rick Perry criticized for not wearing cowboy boots

I think this is funny, and thought that others here might get a laugh from it too.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) doesn't wear cowboy boots anymore for health reasons. Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson (R) doesn't like it.

“Tell Rick that boots can be purchased with normal heels,” he told the Austin American-Stateman's Ken Herman for a column Herman wrote about boots. “I lament the fact that our governor could now pass for a West Coast metrosexual and has embarrassed us all with his sartorial change of direction.”

They look especially stupid with business apparel. The stupidest ones of all (appropriately enough) were the ones W had made with the presidential seal and wore regularly. I bet that idiot had the presidential seal embroidered on his underwear.

A good pair of boots fits like a glove and are the most comfortable shoes ever made. Those that don’t wear boots or don’t buy fitted boots, just don’t get how good they feel on your feet. I find it very hard to wear any other kind of footwear. So you don’t like boots, then don’t wear them, but don’t make fun of those that do love them!

And a side note, I have been wearing the same pair of boots for almost 30 years, try getting that kind of wear out of any other shoe.

but I happen to think cowboy boots look silly with suits because they are work boots. They look hot and uncomfortable to me (but then, I try to avoid wearing any sort of shoes, at least when I'm home); more importantly, they give the impression that the wearer - especially if a politician - is trying to make a statement about being a real Texan or a real cowboy or something. If you wear them just because you like them, go for it, but it's an odd look.

Well $300 thirty years ago. Don't know how much they are today.

My point is, don’t make stereotype statements based on your bias.

Not many guys can pull it off, and end up looking silly or goofy.

I bet he doesn't even carry a cloth handkerchief in his pocket!

Mr. Patterson acting as cowboy fashion police is hilarious. When I see some dumb fuck wearing a pair of shitkickers with a long tie and a business suit, I assume they are only playing cowboy as opposed to actually being one.

Repeat, Rick Perry is not gay http://www.juanitajean.com/2014/07/03/rick-perry-is-not-gay-3/

For the thousandth time, Rick Perry is not gay. Not gay. Not at all. Not even kinda. No gayo.

So it was just shocking, shocking I tell you, when Texas Land Commissioner and very sore loser Jerry Patterson indicated that there might be something amiss in Perry’s “sexual” department.

In an article about boots in the Austin American Statesman, Patterson mused …

Jerry Patterson: retired Marine, beloved state official, haberdashery expert.

He also noted boots are good for carrying knives, small guns, “unmentionables” or “a small flask, giving rise to BYIB (bring yours in boot).”

Well, apparently you can also carry a sharp stick in your boots. Our governor, Duh Perry, says he quit wearing boots because of his bad back.

“Tell Rick that boots can be purchased with normal heels,” he wrote. “I lament the fact that our governor could now pass for a West Coast metrosexual and has embarrassed us all with his sartorial change of direction.”

Yikes! Metrosexual. That’s just three alphabet letters away from … you know, what Perry is NOT.

He rolls around on the floor of horse stalls to get that special cowboy mystique and cachet that West Coast metrosexuals just can't duplicate.
