After people here helped brfore, I got things squared away and was doing ok. I had a little breathing room after a while.
Then came March and Mousie passed and Scat followed her. I was able to handle those bills.
Then I began to have gall bladder attacks(they think.) After each attack was over, food was optional for a few days. I think the stress from Mousie and Scat ruined my digestive system.
After that was the the coup de grace. My car blowed up. Actually it hasn't blowed up yet, but the center muffler is almost broken apart. I can drive it(cross my fingers), but I have to get it fixed.
Thank gawd for once that SC doesn't inspect anything as far as I can tell. The vehicles I have seen on the road......
I realize DU is not my bank. I don't blame anybody for what they think. I'm out of options. I know I am not as bad off as some. If you think badly of me in some way, I've probably beaten you to it.
If anybody can help, it would be very much appreciated. I am trying to scrounge $225. This was literally the very last thing I wanted to do.
Good wishes vibes are also more than welcome and very much needed if you have any to spare.
So that's my tale of woe.(I did have a job interview for a PT position at the library but I wasn't chosen) The only problem will be if I have to fumigate because of locusts.
My PayPal is under tannybogus@hotmail.com.
Please don't apologize if you are 'only' sending good vibes. Those thoughts really pulled through after Mousie and Scat. I wove them into a rope to hold onto until I got my feet back under me again. I still use it from time to time and keep it hanging over my heart.
UPDATE:
Now y'all made me cry, but it's a good cry for a change.
I don't even know what else to say except thank you from the bottom of my itty-bitty heart.
I do and WILL pass it on.

(53,410 posts)I truly wish I could help you, but I can't even seem to save up for my household issues since I declared bankruptcy in 2010 and went through the foreclosure process. Both ended in my favor, but I need to replace my refrigerator, one of my toilets, and my oven and have my fingers crossed that my washer and dryer don't break down. I had to buy all four tires for my car with borrowed money because the old tires were so worn down that one of them went flat while I was driving on the freeway and the rest were in as bad a shape as the flat tire.
It really sucks to be slowly lose everything for lack of money. I wish you the best of luck with DUers. They are wonderful people.

(541 posts)Ditto others: please post a paypal account. On a side note about your car mufflers -- it's great that SC doesn't have major inspections. My previous states (MS and Old FL) don't either, but our home state now, NC, has all kinds of annual inspection hoops to jump thru (at least if your car isn't a late model vehicle that's in tip top shape)
I often wonder how poorly timed car troubles work out for people who are having other financial challenges when annual re registration comes due and one can't get the car re registered legally without paying for sometimes major repairs which don't Always have anything to do with acute on the road safety of the vehicle. (Sorry to run on) Glad you're in a state that doesn't add inspections to the mix. Best. Mike

(17,111 posts)I have a friend in NC who has an old truck. Right now he has to have $200 worth of work done before he can get an inspection sticker. He doesn't have that kind of money and they don't give you much time.
I added my PayPal email in the OP.

(52,161 posts)is that all of the expenses relative to owning a car (tags, inspection, property taxes) are now all due at once. I am lucky in that I get an extra check the month those expenses come due for me but for others this has to be a huge problem.

(3,370 posts)It's happened to me. The time when we were at our lowest is when my car needed a bunch of stuff. First, there were wheel cylinders that I could not afford to fix for inspection, therefore getting a ticket that I couldn't afford to pay. I was helped by friends and by DU for that one. Then, I hit a massive pothole this Winter and my tire blew and the wheel was severely damaged and the TPM cracked (which was not discovered until after I got my new tire and wheel.....stupid). Thankfully, I had been the recipient of donations and was able to cover. And I've had to get rotors repaired. All within this horrendous timeframe in our family's life. If I didn't have friends, DU, and other generous folks, I have no clue what we would have done.
No one wants to drive an unsafe car. Yet, many poor people depend on cars to get them to work. If they don't get to work, they can't pay bills. It's a total double-edged sword. I wish there were big time programs out there to help low income folks get help with car inspections and repairs.

(9,148 posts)I will help with the bill. I will need the name & the phone #. You can private message me with that info if you like. Or just post it here if you would rather. Either way.
I'll take care of it for you. When can they fix it? Rather just do it this way, directly with the shop than bother with paypal.
Let me know.
Not a problem to help you out. Know that K?

(6,151 posts)who has indeed been a helpful soul to many on DU as 'good company' (one of the finest attributes I know) and a source of inspiration. I don't even have a vehicle - I could actually afford to buy a beater but not keep it up, so I don't bother. But then I'm retired too, and even though I had to quit work at 59 and that hit my early retirement hard, at least I know that little check will be there every month. What I did before was not exactly hand to mouth, but it was boom or bust, and that's terribly wearing. I can relate to $ problems, because even the most careful and frugal among us can run into rough waters.

(2,004 posts)Your posts are always interesting and I love the kitten pictures. I do cat rescue. We have 16 currently. It all started when the economy started going bad in 2007. People have dumped so many cats here, because they do not have the money to even feed the poor things. Neither do we, but we do it anyway. Cannot stand to see the poor things suffer.
Stress can really do a number on the digestive tract. Drink as much water as you can and if you can tolerate it, get some organic yogurt, any flavor you like. In my experience, the organic cultures seem more effective in helping the digestive tract work much better. Very soothing for the body after going through a stressful time.
What a bunch of good eggs, we have on this site.
Take care of yourself and the kitties!

(676 posts)It seemed like my entire exhaust was held together with tin cans and bailing wire. There are other options than a new exhaust when money is tight since you said they don't inspect in your area.
