"EMT strangles patient to death in ambulance"....

...or, "Fireman tosses unconscious victim into burning barn"-imagine if either was a headline in breaking news, what would the discussion look like here? Do you suppose people would actually be shocked? How many would point out that very few actually murdered civilians and point out that many actually helped people? Would we consider it normal when the Fire Department or Paramedic Service investigated itself and decided the actions didn't violate department policy? Would you expect other emergency workers to react with outrage and condemn the "bad apples" or to withdraw behind a wall of silence in their version of a "Brotherhood of Blue"???

I've seen "adrenalin" blamed for a lot of shit. I've seem claims of victims "deserving it". Do you think there's no adrenalin when you race at high speed thru traffic at night in a storm because a drunk is unresponsive in an alley? How about when you stumble out of a burning building with the O2 alarm on your Scottpack screaming because the property owner was trying for an insurance score? But we STILL don't see headlines like above.

Out there on Facebook there is a meme called "You had one job" that pairs those words with a picture demonstrating complete failure to achieve the only goal-for instance a photo of a traffic sign indicating a right turn is upcoming, placed just before a clearly seen left turn in the road. You had one job. In short the failure is epic-you had one and only one important responsibility.

And on the side of the police car the sign says "To Protect and Serve"

You had one job, Officer.

We are heading down a dark road accepting these behaviors from those WE pay to 'Protect and Serve' us.

...some here figure I'm a "cop-basher" but all I'm actually bashing is the tolerance people show for people who are in fact NOT cops-they are anti-cops who not just fail to perform their duties, but also inflict damage deliberately on citizens whom they swore an oath to protect.
