(28,498 posts)Republicans love Big Government. They love being told what to think, say, and do. They love authoritarianism.
We can lay to rest the canard that the GOP "hates" Big Government. On the contrary, Republicans want complete control of every facet of your life.
Like Molly Ivins said: "Republicans don't want to govern; they want to rule."

(48,217 posts)1. If the unemployment rate is high, the way to improve it is to fire government workers
2. Governments can't create jobs and only leach money out of the private sector
Both of these myths, common among talk radio's zombie audience, ignore the facts that
1. Firing government workers throws more jobless people onto an already tight job market
2. Government workers buy the same groceries, houses, clothes, cars, appliances, electronic gadgets, toys for children, gasoline, utilities, and everything else that private sector workers do
Try to explain that, and the radio zombies just repeat their talking points louder.
