Grand jury to hear case against suspected go-cart rammer

http://www.click2houston.com/news/Grand-jury-to-hear-case-against-suspected-go-cart-rammer/-/1735978/10194228/-/mlpnbdz/-/

PEARLAND, Texas -
A grand jury is scheduled to hear testimony Wednesday in a case against a woman who is accused of intentionally crashing her vehicle into her neighbors' sons' go-kart.

Police said Deanna Gibson Johnson was driving her Jeep Wrangler last month when she crossed a traffic lane, went over a curb and rammed into the go-kart that had two teens inside.

This story was in the news yesterday. It's an update on the story that has been all over the Internet. Just a quick Google News search turned this up. So, this woman is not out of the woods with the law. Sometimes it takes a while to get the wheels of justice turning.

Good - that woman should be charged with first degree attempted murder. Initech Apr 2012 #8

If it went down as reported, I hope this woman is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

One might think it was an accident when in reality, she did it on purpose. And since when is s go-cart the same height as a Jeep Wrangler. She tried to kill them.

If the woman was black and the kids were white, you can bet the wheels of justice would have been turning a lot faster.

Just sayin'.

The outcry from the community is probably why it's going to a grand jury. There's also a lawsuit.

The police went by the numbers to make sure they had all their ducks in row so no one could accuse them later of dropping the ball and then they'd have to go into 'cover your ass' mode.

was let go at the scene. Infuriating! and of course the children were black--she was outraged that they lived in her neighborhood! She scremed that they didn't belong there (even tho they did)

I hope serious charges are brought, as they should be. I posted this because people are still posting older versions of the story that don't include the grand jury business. There is fresh news about this, so some of the older stories are not accurate any longer.

If it was clear that she drove her vehicle into the go-cart, then she probably would have been arrested right off regardless of the ethnicity of the kids driving the go-cart. She says she was stopped and the kids drove into her vehicle. The grand jury will look at the evidence and make their decision.

However, the police thought there was enough evidence to send the matter to a grand jury which means that a possible felony has been committed. If the grand jury returns an indictment, then the woman will be arrested. If not, she might get a ticket.

They also serve less time for the same offenses.
